Representing a revolutionary approach to the chin rest, the PIRASTRO KorfkerSpring offers groundbreaking new features. It is the first ever flexible chin rest with an oval-shaped spring at its heart. Having been thoroughly tested by a diverse group of violin and viola players, the development of the PIRASTRO KorfkerSpring started with a simple realisation.
Inventor and product developer Berent Korfker shares: ’After years of playing and teaching I realised that in order for us to develop a healthier interaction with our instrument, it would be immensely helpful if the chin rest would actually be flexible!’

Korfker explains: ’Unlike traditional concave chin rests, the beautiful, hardened Swiss maple chin plate of the PIRASTRO KorfkerSpring is convex and highly adjustable. Its ridge gives control over the instrument and invites a lengthening of the spine. The flexibility of the spring awakens the innate balancing system in our neck and upper body which is often dormant.’
