The 58th Premio Paganini Violin Competition is currently underway in Genova, Italy. The second round took place from 18–19 October at the Teatro Carlo Felice, leading to the decision of which six violinists will progress to the semi-final round. They are:

Tianyou Ma (China)

Rino Yoshimoto (Japan)

Aozhe Zhang (China)

Hiu Sing Fan (China)

Miu Hirai (Japan)

Hyun Seo Kim (South Korea)

The selected semi-finalists will perform at the Teatro Carlo Felice on 22 October, playing chamber music works within an established ensemble and a piece for solo violin by Paganini. From this, three violinists will be chosen for the final round on 25 October.

Candidates are competing for the top prize of €30,000, with second and third prize worth €20,000 and €10,000 respectively. Special prizes totalling €16,000 will also be awarded.

This year’s jury comprises Pavel Berman, Pamela Frank, Mihaela Martin, Enzo Restagno, Sayaka Shoji and Ulf Wallin, and is chaired by Uto Ughi.
