The Canadian cellist is a winner of several major international cello competitions

Canadian cellist Luka Coetzee has signed to the Spanish agency Agencia Camera for representation in Spain and Portugal. 

Coetzee made her professional debut at the age of eleven and has since performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic, Cape Town Philharmonic, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Hradec Králové Philharmonic and National Orchestre de Cannes, among others. 

She has won first prizes at major international competitions including at the 2022 Pablo Casals International Award, 2022 Johansen International Competition and 2023 International Paulo Cello Competition. Also in 2022, she received the Frans Helmerson Promotional Award at the Kronberg Academy. 

As part of the LGT Young Soloists, she has performed in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Berlin Philharmonie, Tonhalle Zürich and Victoria Hall Singapore, as well as at the Rheingau Musik Festival and Woordfees Festival in Stellenbosch, South Africa. She has attended various world-class festivals and masterclasses including the Rutesheim Cello Akademie, Prussia Cove Masterclasses and the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival Young Performer’s Program. She has worked with cellists including Danjulo Ishikaza, Claudio Bohorquez and Steven Isserlis. 

Coetzee performs on a c.1712-15 Giuseppe Guarneri ‘filius Andreae’ cello, with a bow by François Nicolas Voirin, both provided by the Canadian Canimex Foundation.
