The Gustav Mahler International Cello Competition in the Czech Republic, which took place fully online this year, has announced its prizes.

The Grand Gustav Mahler Prize went to the German cellist Simon David Eberle. He receives €2000.

Currently studying with Jens Peter Maintz and the Artemis Quartet at the University of the Arts in Berlin, Eberle is a former prize winner at the Jugend musiziert competition, the Moritzburg Festival, the International Rising Stars Grand Prix, the Berlin International Music Competition and the Manhattan International Music Competition.

Other winners in the 11 categories included: Haoyu Gu (China), Yixin Li (China), Ji Eon Lee (South Korea), Fryderyk Midor (Poland), Yiqi Chen (China), Tae-Yeon Kim (South Korea) Ruixuan Qi (China), Tomáš Prchal (Netherland), Felix Brunnenkant (Germany), Sam Lucas (Australia), Simon David Eberle (Germany). They each receive €1000.
