So unfortunate! I hope the airline will compensate Giacomo or he had insurance to cover the loss. However, the fact that the bows were poorly protected will not help his case. A solid bow case could have secured the bows while allowing easy inspection.

Update: Airport reimburses cellist for bows broken in security check
