In 1982 violinist Itzhak Perlman visited the Collegiate School in New York and gave frank and often humorous answers to student questions on his musical idols, performing an instrument other than the violin, the importance to knowing a work's history, the most musically challenging composers, commercialism in the arts, performance nerves, playing for an audience, developing throughout one's career, and contemporary music.
