It’s the Year of the Tiger! Here’s a recent performance of Pablo de Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy, one of the many virtual concerts collated as part of the New Jersey Symphony’s 2022 Lunar New Year Virtual Festival.
Violinist Jisun Kim is the first blind student to attend Manhattan School of Music. She currently studies with former New Jersey Symphony violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins. In an interview following her performance, Kim says, ’I believe that having a disability is not an obstacle for success - it just brings minor limitations that can be overcome.
’Please do not ever give up, please do not be afraid and please remember that disability is not an obstacle for success. If you keep seeking and keep knocking, you will soon find yourself further ahead.’
