Watch Bjarte Eike and Barokksolistene perform ‘The Alehouse Sessions’ from the Czech Musica Pura Festival in 2019.

Norwegian violinist Eike explains that inspiration for the project stems from a time ’in the mid-17th century, when all the theatres and concert halls were closed so people had to go to the pubs, taverns and alehouse to make music’

’What a terrible fate!’ a fellow performer interjects.

’The result was a lot of drinking…and a little bit of music-making’
