Maia Cabeza has stepped down from the role of first violin, which she has served for two years

Violinist Maia Cabeza has announced her departure from the Doric Quartet, where she has served as first violinist for two years.
Posting on social media, Cabeza said she stepped down from the role this summer and will be ’devoting my energy to other exciting facets of my varied life as a musician’.
Cabeza’s departure comes as the quartet recently released its CD featuring five Beethoven string quartets. She currently serves as co-leader of Aurora Orchestra, and is also a member of Chamber Orchestra of Europe and principal second of Kammerakademie Potsdam. She has been invited to guest lead orchestras such as Czech Philharmonic, Haydn Philharmonie and Orchestra Leonore, among others.
The remaining members of the quartet, comprising violinist Ying Xue, violist Emma Wernig and cellist John Myerscough, said: ’We are so grateful for our two years together, exploring such wonderful music with you and will cherish the memories we made. Wishing you all the very best for your next chapter, Maia!’
