We founded our workshop, Liuteria Anema e Corde, in 2001. This translates as ‘soul and strings’ – anema being both the word for ‘soul’ and ‘soundpost’. The spelling anema, rather than anima, is Neapolitan and highlights our adherence to the making traditions of Naples. The luthiers of this city have always had a distinct making style, which we respect as far as possible. Both of us are currently studying sculpture at the city’s Academy of Fine Arts because there’s always something new for us to learn…
