US cellist Andres Sanchez, 28, has received the first prize of $50,000 in the senior division of the Sphinx Competition in Detroit, MI, US. The $20,000 second prize was awarded to US violinist Sophie Ayer, 23, and the $10,000 third prize to US double bassist Taylor Abbitt, 28. In the junior division, the $10,000 first prize went to US violinist Alette Williams, 16, the $5,000 second prize to US cellist Sofia Hernandez-Williams, 12, and the $3,000 third prize to US cellist Sonya Moomaw, 14…
