With the UK’s Paraorchestra winning Ensemble of the Year at the 2025 RPS Awards, what resources are there for musicians who identify as disabled, D/deaf or neurodivergent?

A landmark musicians’ census in 2023, by the UK Musicians’ Union and charity Help Musicians, highlighted multiple financial challenges for disabled musicians, including a disability pay gap and the costs of accessing transport, equipment, training and support. Fifty-seven per cent of the 2,593 disabled musicians surveyed in the census reported that they face barriers as a result of being disabled that impact their career and aspirations…
