On Thursday 29 June, STAGE+ will stream a plethora of content in celebration of violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter’s 60th birthday.

Content to be streamed will include Mutter’s forthcoming performance with Mutter’s Virtuosi at the Vienna Musikverein, as well as a wide-ranging selection of video-on-demand content, covering her work with Karajan in the early 1980s and her recent collaborations with film composer John Williams.

The streamed concert on Thursday will feature the violinist with her ensemble of hand-picked musicians, Mutter’s Virtuosi. They will perform a programme of Vivaldi Concerto for Three Violins in F major, Bach Violin Concerto in A minor, Brandenburg Concerto no.3 in G major, Prévin’s Nonet (2014) and Joseph Bologne Concerto in A major op.5 no.2.

The recording label Deutsche Grammophon pays tribute to the violinist this summer to mark her birthday: on 9 June it released Anne-Sophie Mutter – The Solo Concertos, a limited-edition 5-LP box set containing her complete solo concerto recordings with the Berliner Philharmoniker and her mentor Herbert von Karajan. The works have been unavailable in LP format for many years.

Deutsche Grammophon is also re-releasing a trio of essential albums from Mutter’s extensive catalogue: Carmen-Fantasie (1993), Vivaldi – The Four Seasons (1999) and Mozart – The Violin Concertos (2005).

Mutter will embark on a ten-concert tour with Mutter’s Virtuosi in June and will perform John Williams’s Violin Concerto no. 2 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the Tanglewood Festival and on tour in Europe in late summer.
