Vlad Stănculeasa will start in the role in October 2026
Romanian violinist Vlad Stănculeasa has been appointed violin professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. He will begin in the role in October 2026.
Stănculeasa is an alumnus of Lausanne’s Haute École de Musique, where he studied with Pierre Amoyal. He also studied with Alberto Lysy and Liviu Prunaru at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, Switzerland. He received top prizes at the George Enescu International Violin Competition, Renata Molinari Competition and Valsesia Musica International Competition.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra, Kammersymphonie Leipzig and George Enescu Philharmonic.
He has served as concertmaster for the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra and Basel Chamber Orchestra. He is currently the leader of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Bochumer Symphoniker and Gstaad Festival Orchestra.
Stănculeasa has also performed as a guest concertmaster with the Bamberger Symphoniker, l’Accademia di Santa Cecilia Roma, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Kammersymphonie Leipzig, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Bern Symphony Orchestra and Swedish Chamber Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Janine Jansen, Tabea Zimmermann, Alberto Lysy, Steven Isserlis, Maximilian Hornung, Viktoria Mullova and others.
