Five string players proceed to the final round, which will take place in New York in October
The Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition has announced the five string players that will compete in its final round on 15 October at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center Recital Hall in New York. They are:
- Leah Amory (violin, US)
- Peter Eom (cello, US)
- Emrik Revermann (violin, Canada)
- Alessandra Yang (viola, US)
- Yebin Yoo (violin, South Korea)
They compete for a grand prize of $10,000 with six paid performance engagements. The competition is open to string players aged 16 –30, performing unaccompanied works by Bach. Both modern and baroque instruments are eligible.
This year’s jury comprises Julie Andrijeski, Colin Carr, Nicholas Cords, Arthur Haas and Hye-Jin Kim.
Previous winners of the competitions include violinists Emmanuel Coppey, Tianyou Ma, Lun Li and Rachell Ellen Wong, cellist Maxime Quennesson, double bassist Nina Bernat, and most recently Baroque violinist Danqi Zeng.
