British violist Duncan Anderson takes up the role

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of British violist Duncan Anderson as its co-principal viola, joining section leader Steven Burnard.
Anderson has held the role of co-principal viola of the English National Opera and has performed with ensembles including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Southbank Sinfonia, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, and the Hallé Orchestra.
He is an alumnus of Chetham’s School of Music the Royal College of Music, Imperial College, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having studied with teachers including David Vernon, Adrian Levine and Ian Jewel.
‘I’m very excited to be joining this wonderful orchestra,’ said Anderson. ‘I can remember being taken to hear the BBC Philharmonic as a child, so I’m really looking forward to this next chapter in my music making.’
