In his monthly ‘Radio Notes’ column, Reid Stewart bemoans the current state of the Proms and the programming habits of the BBC (which had taken them over in 1927)
The main events have been the relays of Promenade Concerts. So far these programmes have adhered closely to the beaten track. I am not sure that it is entirely to the good. The Promenade Concerts are quite capable of being run without State aid, and it seems a pity that the B.B.C., with its vast revenue, cannot be more venturesome in the way of programmes…
