Nikita Boriso-Glebsky has won first prize at the Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki. The 25-year-old, who studies with Augustin Dumay at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, received €20,000, plus €2,000 for the best interpretation of the Sibelius concerto. Second prize went to Finnish violinist Petteri Iivonen, 23. Sixteen-year-old Esther Yoo, from the US, came third.

Boriso-Glebsky's win is his third major competition success of 2010: he won third prize at the Montreal International Music Competition in June, and first prize at the Kreisler competition in Vienna in September.
