Youjin Lee, 17, won the gold medal and $5,000 at the Stulberg
International String Competition in Kalamazoo, Michigan, US. The
South Korean-born violinist is a student of Danielle Belen and
Robert Lipsett at the Colburn Young Artists Academy in Los Angeles.
Earlier this year she was a prizewinner at the Munetsugu Angel
Violin Competition in Nagoya, Japan.
Violinist Ariel Horowitz, 16, from Bloomington, Indiana, won the
silver medal. The bronze medal went to another violinist,
18-year-old Laura Park, from Hanover Park, Illinois.
