I congratulate Mr. Shankaranarayanan on his own musical success and his significant, innovative and creative feat in producing this artificial music-maker. I sincerely hope it finds its rightful place in this world and serves a positive purpose.
I admit that the potential negative outcomes of AI and the creation of even more machines to make music for us makes me more sad than delighted, however... as I imagine even more jobs being taken away from living humans, by people who don't mind replacing them because most people probably can't tell the difference.
As I consider the direction the world is going in, I wonder...
Perhaps the more artificial things we create, the more we will finally begin to value the active and subjective process of creation itself; the human connection that happens between humans instead of between humans and objects; and the possibility for personal transcendence when each of us spends more time connecting with our own Creative Spirit, first and foremost.
Maybe we are at a time in our evolution where the contrast between artificial productions and the absence of living inner music... and the epidemic loneliness that comes from a lack of real, loving, living, spiritual heart-to-heart connection between humans... is becoming so evident everywhere - even in the arts, now - that we will finally have to face it within ourselves as individuals. This is my hope.
