Violinist Robert Mozes has died

Romanian-born Israeli violinist, violist, composer and arranger Robert Mozes has died.

Mozes began his studies with Edith Broch and was a graduate of the Cluj Academy of Music. After moving to Israel in 1977 he earned a master’s degree at the Tel Aviv Rubin Academy of Music, studying with professor Rami Shevelov.

He joined the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978, remaining there until 2020. He was also a member of the Israel Quartet and a former member of the Jerusalem String Trio.

The Toscanini Quartet, which comprises members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, posted a tribute to Mozes on social media:

’We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Robert Mozes.

’Robi was a true musician - his love for music was evident in everything he did. In his honour and memory, we’d like to share an arrangement he wrote for us a few years ago, one that we had the privilege of performing around the world. (below)
