Robbie Stanley-Smith’s instrument was stolen on the evening of 12 October 2022 in Camberwell, south London. The cello and bow were in a Gewa case.

The instrument was last seen outside his house on Elmington Road in Camberwell. The instrument is contained in a maroon Gewa carbon fibre case, made distinctive by two reflective strips on the front, and no rucksack straps on the back. Inside is a 1860s French cello by Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy with a bridge by J.P Guivier & Sons and a Neudorfer bow.

Stanley-Smith, a freelance cellist, has been borrowing a cello from a colleague for performance engagments since the incident.
