The International Society of Bassists (ISB) has named Jayden Im as the recipient of this year’s Jane Little Scholarship.

The award, worth $10,000, is given annually to a female double bass player entering college as a freshman. It was established in 2022 by an anonymous donor and is given in honour and memory of Jane Little, former member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and celebrated as one of the longest serving professional orchestra musicians in the world.

Im hails from Ann Arbor, MI, and studies with Derek Weller. She has been accepted to study at Rice University with Paul Ellison.

Im is a 2025 honour graduate from Washtenaw Technical Middle College as a high school student. She has been a member of the Concordia College Symphony, Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Youth Symphony Orchestra and Michigan All State High School Orchestra, and is a two-time nominee for the Michigan Band and Orchestra Association’s Outstanding Soloist award.

She has participated in the Interlochen Double Bass Intensive, Philadelphia International Music Festival ’Music in the Mansion’ programme, Domaine Forget and the Tanglewood Double Bass Workshop.

Im also plays flute and piano in addition to the double bass. She has been teaching piano lessons for over three years, has been a gymnast for eight years, and is active as a tutor and volunteer in her community.
