The violinist will feature in a three-concert series during the season
Italian–American violinist Francesca Dego has been named as Wigmore Hall’s artist in residence for the 2026–27 season. The role will comprise of a three-concert series running from November 2026 to July 2027, finishing with a world premiere of Feathers in Time, Dego’s project commissioning ten leading Italian composers to set her late father’s poetry to solo violin.
Across the residency, she will also be joined by pianists Francesca Leonardi and Alessandro Taverna, and clarinettist Alessandro Carbonare.

’Wigmore Hall has always felt like a spiritual home, so to be given the title of artist in residence is one of the great honours of my career. Closing this residency with Feathers in Time makes it even more meaningful: I get to bring my father’s poetry back into the world through the voices of ten extraordinary Italian composers, in the hall I love most.
’I can’t wait to share this journey, from Tartini to the world premieres, with London audiences over the next year.’
Dego has performed as a soloist with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Oslo Philharmonic, Enescu Philharmonic and more. Upcoming debuts include the San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Danish National Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai and Bilbao Symphony.
As a chamber musician, she performs regularly with Francesco Piemontesi, Daniel Müller-Schott, Gautier Capuçon, Timothy Ridout, Jan Lisiecki, Salvatore Accardo, Alessandro Carbonare, Alessandro Taverna and Francesca Leonardi.
