A case in Canada has put the problem of non-disclosure agreements for musicians in the spotlight. What recourse do artists have when presented with an NDA form?

The UK government has followed legislators in Ireland, Canada, Australia and the US in regulating to stop the misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in cases of workplace harassment and discrimination. Surveys and studies in Canada, the US and the UK have estimated that one in three people will sign an NDA at some point in their working lives. Although NDAs were originally designed to protect confidential business information, some employers have used them to silence workers from speaking out about sexual harassment complaints and other misconduct. Campaigners including Zelda Perkins, a former assistant to Harvey Weinstein who broke her NDA in 2017 and founded Can’t Buy My Silence UK (bit.ly/4u1AHPd), have been pressing the government for years to legislate against the abuse of NDAs…
