‘Forte’ is a documentary about women in classical music starring violinists Tatiana Berman and Eldbjørg Hemsing, and composer Lucia Caruso. It is directed by David Donnelly, who’s previous work includes ‘Maestro’, a documentary about Paavo Järvi.

There is currently a Kickstarter campaign for completing the film.

Film blurb:

‘In the world of classical music, the path to becoming a professional soloist typically begins at the age of 4 or 5. From that point forth, the lifetime of relentless dedication and countless hours of practice can easily be compared to training for the Olympics. Millions of ambitious musicians around the world will embark on this path, but few will actually make it their career. Forte is a feature-length documentary that tells the stories of three remarkable women who are pursuing this path in their own, unique ways. A young Norwegian soloist champions a rare, self-discovered composition and risks a promising career to bring it to life. An Argentinian composer gets the opportunity of a lifetime to compose and conduct a film score. And a cultural entrepreneur and mother of three reestablishes her career while balancing family and her dreams. The one thing these bold, inspiring individuals have in common is strength.’
