A multimedia performance of Stockhausen's Helicopter String
Quartet has been commissioned from Birmingham Opera Company as
part of a new £3.5m digital arts platform in the UK.
Arts Council England and the BBC have commissioned 53 projects for
The Space, which will run between May and October and be available
on PCs, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs. The service will
also be available as a Red Button, Video on Demand Service via
Freeview HD.
The idea behind the service is to boost the digital skills of the
UK arts and cultural sector, and to enable organisations to connect
with new and existing audiences.
Other commissions include a partnership between the Philharmonia
Orchestra and the Science Museum in London to enable audiences to
experience Holst's Planets Suite by exploring the role of
individual instruments in the orchestra.
