Russian cellist Alexey Stadler, 21, won first prize at this
year's Tonali Grand Prix in Hamburg, Germany. Stadler, who studies
with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the Hochschule für Musik Franz
Liszt in Weimar, received €10,000.
The Tonali Grand Prix is an annual competition that alternates
between violinists, cellists and pianists. The first competition,
for violinists, was held in 2010.
