Eight violinists have been selected to compete in the semi-final round in Boca Raton, FL, US

The Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition has published the names of the eight violinists that will be proceeding to its semi-final round, which will take place from 13–14 January at the Lynn Conservatory of Music’s Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall on the Lynn University campus in Boca Raton, Florida.
In alphabetical order, they are:
Sameer Agrawal (20, United States)
I-Hao Cheng (27, Taiwan)
Yiyang Hou (21, China)
Julia Jones (21, United States)
Youjin Lee (30, South Korea)
Hyun Jae Lim (28, South Korea)
Julia-Xiaozhuo Wang (18, Austria/China)
Ruiyi Wang (23, China)
The competition is open to violinists aged 18–30 and offers a first prize of $30,000. The final round will take place on 18 January at the Keith C. & Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center. Four finalists will be accompanied by the Lynn Philharmonia, conducted by Gerald Karni, performing their choice of the Brahms, Dvořák, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky or Vieuxtemps concertos.
This year’s jury comprises Ilya Kaler, Ida Kavafian, Irina Muresanu, Philip Setzer, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, and Kyoko Takezawa, with Andrés Cárdenes as chairman of the jury. For the qualifying round, the jury consisted of Jennifer Frautschi, Lucia Lin, and Arnaud Sussmann.
