Quatuor Agate has announced the appointment of Juliette Beauchamp as its new violinist. She replaces Thomas Descamps.

The remaining members of Quatuor Agate, violinist Adrien Jurkovic, violist Raphaël Pagnon and cellist Simon Iachemet, met Beauchamp during their studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin.

’We have always been deeply inspired by Juliette’s unique artistry, but sharing the stage together during our recent UK tour made one thing crystal clear: she was the musician we had been searching for all along,’ the quartet said on social media.

Quatuor Agate was formed in 2016. It won Best Contemporary Performance Award at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the YCAT auditions in 2021, plus audience prizes at the 2020 Steels-Wilsing Competition and 2019 Verbier Festival.

It was named an ECHO Rising Star for the 2024/25 season, performing in major European concert halls. The quartet currently holds a residence at the Rachmaninoff Conservatory in Paris and is an associate artistat the La Brèche Festival.

The quartet recently released a recording of the complete Brahms string quartets on Appassionato Records. Additional releases include a recording with Frank Braley and Gabriel Le Magadure of Chausson’s Concert for Appassionato, as well as an album with American tenor Eric Ferring in Chicago for the Delos label.
