Emma and Mariette at our stand - booth 404

Howdy Louisville, Kentucky! The Strad has arrived in Louisville for the American String Teachers Association’s (ASTA) national conference, which is taking place from 20 to 23 March at the Kentucky International Convention Center. The Strad is at booth 404 in the exhibition hall, so make sure to come and say hello and grab a complimentary March 2024 issue, Degrees guide and String Courses supplement. We can also tell you more about our ASTA-only subscription discounts. You don’t want to miss these!

Make sure to watch our Instagram reel that shows our first day here, including setting up our stand:

This is the first year that ASTA has joined forces with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) for a collated conference. Throughout the conference days, hundreds of talks, workshops, masterclasses and lectures will take place, all on the topic of string education, or Suzuki Method-related themes. With a record number of 3,500 attendees, it is the largest convening for both the ASTA and SAA conferences. The conference also includes an exhibition hall, where universities, instrument makers, ensembles and other string instrument-related organisations are presenting stands.

After seeing a few of the Louisville sites, from the Ohio River to the Muhammad Ali Center, The Strad team, comprising Emma, Mariette and Rita, can’t wait to welcome you to the stand. We’ve already enjoyed some talks and masterclasses, and visiting booths at the vibrant exhibition hall.

See you at booth 404!

Best of Technique

In The Best of Technique you’ll discover the top playing tips of the world’s leading string players and teachers. It’s packed full of exercises for students, plus examples from the standard repertoire to show you how to integrate the technique into your playing.

Masterclass

The Strad’s Masterclass series brings together the finest string players with some of the greatest string works ever written. Always one of our most popular sections, Masterclass has been an invaluable aid to aspiring soloists, chamber musicians and string teachers since the 1990s.

Calendars

American collector David L. Fulton amassed one of the 20th century’s finest collections of stringed instruments. This year’s calendar pays tribute to some of these priceless treasures, including Yehudi Menuhin’s celebrated ‘Lord Wilton’ Guarneri, the Carlo Bergonzi once played by Fritz Kreisler, and four instruments by Antonio Stradivari.
