A new fast-speaking cello set from Larsen Strings

‘For us, the Sovereign cello set marks a distinct shift in character,’ says Thomas Zwieg, vice president of product development at Larsen Strings. ‘The C and G strings especially have a level of edge and growl that we didn’t have in our existing cello strings.’ The concept for the new set initially came out from discussions with cellist Johannes Moser, who previously used Larsen’s Magnacore set but was interested in achieving a faster response from the lower strings. ‘He described the Magnacore as a luxury car,’ Zwieg says, ‘but he was looking for a sports car.’…
