Diemut Poppen, whose teachers included Kim Kashkashian, Yuri Bashmet and Bruno Giuranna, is a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and former co-principal of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

She established the Thüringen Summer Music Academy and Osnabrück Chamber Music Series and has been a member of the ARD Competition jury.
