The Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA, US, has launched a website dedicated to the papers, books, photographs and recordings of cellist Gregor Piatigorsky (1903–76). The music school came into possession of the archive in 2014, as a gift from the Piatigorsky family. Since then, a team of archivists has catalogued and digitised the collection, making selections available to browse online.

The documentation features music manuscripts, photographs, concert programmes, sound recordings, newspaper clippings and correspondence including letters from Jascha Heifetz, Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Isaac Stern and many others. All the selections can be found here.

The launch of the website coincides with the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival, which runs in Los Angeles until 22 May.
