The American musician also becomes a faculty member of the Eastman School of Music, where the ensemble is the string quartet in residence
Robin Scott has been appointed first violinist of the Ying Quartet. The American musician (pictured with the quartet, second right) joins siblings and founding members David, cello; Janet, violin; and Phillip, viola, and also receives an appointment to the faculty of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where the ensemble is the string quartet in residence. He replaces previous first violinist Ayano Ninomiya, who performed with the ensemble since 2010.
Scott is a former first prize winner of the International Young Artists Competition and the WAMSO Young Artist Competition in Minnesota, and second prize winner of the Yehudi Menuhin, Irving M. Klein and Stulberg international violin competitions. As well as performing as a soloist and chamber musician, he has served as concertmaster of the New York Classical Players, as guest concertmaster with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and as guest principal second violin of the St Paul Chamber Orchestra.
