Former San Diego Symphony Orchestra violist Allan Nilles joined the viola section of the Berlin Philharmonic in April. The musician performed with the American orchestra for two years and has lived in Berlin since January.

Nilles graduated from the Juilliard School in 2011, having studied the viola since the age of three, and joined the San Diego Symphony in the same year.

An avid chamber musician and teacher, Nilles is also a graduate of the Perlman Music Program.
