Six violinists will perform in the final rounds from 30 September
Following the semi-finals of the 12th International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, held from 25-28 September 2026, six contestants have been chosen to perform in the final rounds. They are:
Karisa Chiu (27), US
Elli Choi (25), US
Yesong Sophie Lee (22), US
Lina Nakano (21), Japan
Aozhe Zhang (18), China
Xunyue Zhang (22), China
On 30 September and 1 October, each of the six laureates will perform one Classical concerto by either Haydn or Mozart and an encore work by Kreisler with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra.
The contestants will also perform a Romantic or post-Romantic concerto chosen from a prescribed list with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leonard Slatkin, on 2 and 3 October.
The jury for the 2026 competition comprises Jaime Laredo (chair), David Chan, Jinjoo Cho, Pamela Frank, Yuzuko Horigome, Bella Hristova, Dong-Suk Kang, Cho-Liang Lin and Svetlin Roussev.
