I’ve been at this workshop since 1986. I was working with the luthier Frank Davis in Minneapolis, just across the Mississippi, and when it came to setting up my own workshop I found a map of the Twin Cities, put a compass in the middle of the river and drew a circle to find the area I wanted to have my shop. I figured I could service both cities if I was central enough. Minneapolis and St Paul both have a lot of musical culture, and my plan has worked out.
