A new, synthetic shoulder rest from Pirastro and the first in nearly a decade

Berent Korfker, violinist and developer of Pirastro’s line of shoulder rests, has long understood the difficulty of choosing the right one. ‘My frustration as a performer was that shoulder rests change the sound of our instruments,’ he says. Now, nine years after the introduction of the KorfkerRest, which is made of bendable maple and aluminium, Pirastro has released a synthetic model, the Pirastro KorfkerRest Luna. The legs can be folded and adjustment does not involve screws. Four extra barrel legs of two different lengths are provided. Each leg’s shaft is positioned differently, and depending on which way it is clicked in, makes the rest wider or narrower…
