Nicholas Tzavaras

Cellist Nicholas Tzavaras has toured the globe as a chamber musician, soloist, and educator for almost a quarter of a century. In 2000, he joined the internationally recognized Shanghai Quartet and has performed more than 1600 concerts across 5 continents.

In addition, Tzavaras has held the esteemed title of guest principal cellist of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra since 2009. He has recorded more than 27 albums including the complete string quartets of Beethoven. Tzavaras previously served as Artist-in-Residence at Montclair State University’s John J. Cali School of Music and as cello and chamber faculty at the Longy School of Music.
