Born into a family of jazz musicians, Masurenko studied with Kim Kashkashian and Nobuko Imai.

She has commissioned music from numerous composers. Her recordings, many of which draw on historically informed performance practices, have been awarded the Diapason Découverte and the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.

Masurenko is artistic director of the International Viola Camp in the Turkish city of İznik.
