The first cellist to win the Netherlands Music Prize, Pieter Wispelwey studied with Paul Katz and William Pleeth before embarking on a performing career that has seen him record with numerous orchestras around the world.
He plays on both modern and Baroque instruments, and has been the artistic director of the Beauvais Cello Festival since 2009.
