The Russian husband and wife will join the US institution from the start of the 2018-19 academic year

The Cleveland Institute of Music has appointed violinists Ilya Kaler (pictured) and Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler to its string faculty from the start of the 2018-19 academic year.

Currently a professor at DePaul University School of Music in Chicago, Ilya Kaler has previously held positions at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester and at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington. A prolific recording artist, the native Russian is the only violinist to have won first prize at the Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Paganini competitions.

Married to Ilya Kaler, Russian-born Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler is currently a member of the World Orchestra for Peace, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Ensemble. Currently serving on the faculty at DePaul University School of Music, she has given masterclasses at the Eastman School of Music, Northwestern University, Michigan State University and Andrews University.
