The German artist receives her award for 'advocacy in the field of music education', particularly through her Friends of Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation
Anne-Sophie Mutter has been honoured with the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Crystal Award in Davos, Switzerland, as a 'leading example of what it means to inspire and to create change for the greater good'.
The German violinist receives her award for 'advocacy in the field of music education', particularly through her Friends of Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation, which provides young people with scholarships and performing opportunities. The Deutsche Grammophon artist receives the prize alongside pop singer Shakira and actor Forest Whitaker.
Based in Geneva, the WEF seeks to 'improve the state of the world' by engaging leading figures in society 'to shape global, regional, and industry agendas'. The organisation has recognised more than 80 individuals in the arts with its Crystal Award 'for their commitment to advancing inclusive progress on issues such as peace-making, social inclusion, education, health, food security and sustainability.'
