The ensemble receives $10,000 for its Grand Prize win and a further $3,500 for winning the Senior String Division

The Milton String Quartet has won the Grand Prize and Senior String Division Gold Medal at the 44th Annual Fischoff Competition at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

The ensemble - violinists Roman Fraser and Maithéna Girault, violist Evan Robinson and cellist Joshua Morris - receives $10,000 for the Grand Prize win and a further $3,500 for winning the Senior String Division. The Quartet, which is currently studying at the McGill International String Quartet Academy in Montreal, will also embark on a Winner's Tour of the midwestern United States and appear at the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy.

The Senior Division Silver Medal, worth $3,000, was awarded to the Notos Quartet, while the Bronze Medal, worth $2,000, went to the Ivani Quartet. The Junior Division first prize, worth $2,300, went to the Bellezza Quartet.

This year's Senior Division jury featured violinist Julie Rosenfeld, cellist Rhonda Rider, violist James Dunham and pianist Anne Epperson.

Open to international ensembles of three to six performers in string and wind categories, the Fischoff Competition counts among its former winners the Tesla Quartet, the Calidore String Quartet, the Dover Quartet, and the Pacifica Quartet.
