The Swedish musician’s debut CD is released on BIS
In the February 2020 issue of The Strad, Swedish violinist Johan Dalene discusses his new recording of the Tchaikovsky and Barber concertos, with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Blendulf. ’The Barber is a very romantic composition, but there are a lot of places where it sounds far more modern,’ he says, ’especially in the second movement, which is a favourite of mine and which reminds me of the Brahms Concerto, with the oboe solo. It’s so romantic and so deep, but it changes a lot in character in comparison with the Tchaikovsky Concerto, which is just a canzonetta, a simple song. They are definitely different pieces, although the final movements of both are super-fast and exciting.’
The CD (cat. no. BIS-2440), is now available and we have ten copies to give away. For your chance to win one, simply click here to enter your details.
