Currently artist-in-residence with the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, German–French cellist Nicolas Altstaedt received the Credit Suisse Young Artist award in 2010.

He has been director of the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival since 2012 and artistic director of the Haydn Philharmonie since 2014. Recent CD releases include concertos by Haydn, Schumann and Ligeti.
