Competition results

South Korean violinist Inmo Yang, 26, has won first prize at the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki, Finland. The prize comes with €30,000 and the loan of a Guadagnini violin. Yang currently studies with Antje Weithaas at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. US violinist Nathan Meltzer, 21, won the €20,000 second prize, while Ukraine’s Dmytro Udovychenko, 22, was awarded third prize and €15,000.

The Leonkoro Quartet has won first prize and €20,000 at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux, France. The foursome also received the audience prize and young listener’s prize. The group comprises violinists Jonathan Schwarz, 26, and Amelie Wallner, 23, violist Mayu Konoe, 24, and cellist Lukas Schwarz, 24. The quartet is tutored by the Artemis Quartet at the Berlin University of the Arts…
