Cellist Nadège Rochat and guitarist Rafael Aguirre perfom Ravel’s Pièce en forme de Habanera. Originally written as a vocalise-étude, for voice without words and piano, it was subsequently arranged for cello and piano, and now exists in several versions for various instruments.

Rochat plays a cello known as the ‘Vatican Stradivari’ which has a complicated history. Originally built as a viola da gamba by Nicolò Amati, it was converted to a cello either by Stradivari or by a later luthier. Further restoration was done by 19th-century French maker Georges Chanot and the decorations date from that time too.
