The 9th Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition has named the five violinists progressing to the semi-finals, to be held on 11 May 2016 in Augsburg, Germany. Each of the competitors will perform a concerto by either Glasunov, Lalo, Vieuxtemps or Prokofiev with the Munich Radio Orchestra.

The line-up includes 16-year-old Ziyu He (pictured), from China, who won the Menuhin Competition 2016 Senior Final last month and the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 2014, and 23-year-old Ji Won Song, who won the $50,000 China International Violin Competition in 2014.

The five finalists are:

Anna Göckel (23, France)

Ziyu He (16, China)

Jae Hyeong Lee (23, South Korea)

Ji Won Song (23, South Korea)

Andi Zhang (23, China)

The Leopold Mozart Competition final will be held on 12 May, during which the competitors will perform a Mozart concerto. The winner will be awarded €10,000, a CD recording and concert opportunities.

The 2016 jury includes Paul Roczek, Achim Fiedler, Suzanne Gessner, Vladimir Ivanov, Min Kim, Senta Kraemer, Gyorgy Pauk, Baiba Skride, Wei-Dong Tong and Petru Munteanu.
